Frequently Ask Questions (FAQs)
What kinds of training do you actually do?
Honestly, most people come to me because life with their dog feels harder than it should. Pulling on leash. Losing their mind at the door. Barking at everything. Reactivity. Resource guarding. Aggression. Puppies who are adorable but feral. Dogs who are sweet at home and scary outside.
I do in-home training so we can work on the stuff that is actually happening in your day to day life. Not just in a quiet training room. If it is making living with your dog stressful, it probably falls in my wheelhouse.
Do you only work with puppies?
Nope. I love puppies, but I work with adult dogs all the time. A lot of dogs never got clear structure early on and that is not their fault. Some dogs developed big feelings about the world over time. Both can be helped.
You are not late. You did not miss some magical training window forever. We just meet your dog where they are.
What is your training style?
I use a balanced, structured approach focused on clear communication and accountability. My goal is not to bribe your dog forever or drill obedience in a vacuum. I want your dog to actually understand expectations and make better choices in real situations.
We work on how your dog thinks, not just what they can do for a treat.
Why in home training instead of group classes?
Because behavior does not happen in a classroom. It happens in your living room. On your sidewalk. When guests come over. When another dog appears out of nowhere.
Training in your home and neighborhood lets us tackle the real triggers and patterns instead of hoping skills magically transfer later. It also means I get to coach you in your actual environment, which matters a lot.
What is Home School exactly?
Home School is my most intensive program. I come to your home multiple times a week and work directly with your dog, then we meet for owner lessons so you learn how to handle everything yourself.
Think of it like boot camp plus coaching. Your dog gets a ton of structured work and you get clear instructions so you do not feel lost once I leave.
What is the difference between that and private lessons?
Private lessons are more owner focused. I teach you how to train your dog step by step and we build things out together over time.
Home School is faster paced and more immersive for the dog. I usually recommend it for bigger behavior issues or families who want a serious reset and do not have tons of spare training hours during the week.
How long does training usually take?
That depends on the dog, the behavior, and how consistent things are at home. Some dogs change quickly. Others need more reps and patience.
You will usually see improvement early on, but lasting change takes follow through. My programs are built to give you momentum and a plan, not just a couple tips and a pat on the back.
Do I have to be involved or can you just fix my dog?
You are part of the deal. Always.
Even with intensive programs, I make sure you learn what your dog learned and how to maintain it. Dogs live with you, not me, so you have to be able to handle things confidently once training is done. That is the whole point.
What do I need to do before training starts?
Be honest about what is going on. Have some good treats ready. Be open to changing a few routines.
Sometimes the dog is doing exactly what the environment taught them to do. We tweak that and things start improving pretty fast.
How do I know if my dog actually needs professional training?
If you are frustrated, embarrassed, nervous walking them, avoiding guests, or constantly saying sorry while your dog melts down, that is usually your sign.
You do not need to wait until something catastrophic happens. Getting help earlier almost always makes things easier and cheaper in the long run.
Do you work with aggressive dogs?
Yes. I handle serious behavior cases regularly. Dog aggression. Human directed aggression. Resource guarding. Fear based reactivity. I actually love it, and find these cases the most rewarding.
Those cases always start with a thorough evaluation so I can understand the whole picture before recommending a program. Safety comes first for everyone involved.
What areas do you serve?
I work throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area including Euless, Bedford, Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake, Hurst, Fort Worth, and surrounding cities.
If you are not sure whether you fall in my range, just ask.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes. Most clients start with a consultation where we talk through your dog, what you have tried, what is not working, and what you want life to look like on the other side of training.
From there I recommend a program that actually makes sense for your situation. No cookie cutter plans.
How do I get started?
Head to the contact page on the site and fill out the form or reach out by phone or email. Tell me what is going on with your dog and what made you start looking for help. The more detail, the better.
We will take it from there.
